PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN BY:

  • Exploring common stereotypes of people marginalized people and their impact on individuals, and how they should be avoided at all costs

  • Reflecting on how actions and words of family members, support staff, individuals themselves can devalue people how it affects the lives of people who are at risk

  • Examining personal values and commitments to people who are considered to be marginalized or devalued

  • Exploring how physical location, environment, appearance, and imagery shapes perception of human value Raising awareness of the need to view all people by their abilities and what they can contribute, not their disability

  • Focusing on what a person with a disability can do and has to offer, as opposed to seeing their disability as a barrier to participation

  • The importance of the use of knowledge, skills, and interests inventories
